How to create your own fabric labels?
·
Design your label in Word or using a photo software.
·
Mark the top or front facing side of a paper and print your label on it to know what side your printer laser or inkjet prints on.
·
Purchase light weight cotton fabric
·
Cut your fabric in bias for 8.5 in by 11 in to avoid fraying. Although, you could cut them straight as well but would trim the fraying threads at the edges. Cut your fabric a little wider than 8.5 in by 11 in even in bias.
·
Iron the fabric pieces.
·
Peel a removable sticker paper from its backing.
·
Put the sticky side on the back side of a fabric piece.
·
Smooth it by hand to stick it to the fabric.
·
Trim the edges of the fabric to match the size of the backing paper.
·
Insert your label fabric in your inkjet printer or laser printer with the fabric side facing the right way as the label should print on the fabric.
·
Print your label.
·
Gently peel the adhesive paper off the fabric.
·
Let the label rest for few minutes.
·
Iron it
·
Your label is ready to be used.
·
Your adhesive paper can be reused up to 4 times.
·
Put the sticker paper back on to its backing paper.
·
Give the sticker paper to kids to draw their own stickers.
Although you could print your label using a laser printer, for label that would be sewn on a product that might require frequent washing, it might be a good idea to print using an inkjet printer as inkjet printers use ink while laser printers use toner and might fade quicker. However, label printed using a laser printer is darker in color than a label printed with inkjet printer.
Labels for products that may not be washed, printing them using a laser printer might be just fine.
